Privacy Policy
Overview
This is my personal blog, and I take your privacy seriously. I believe in transparency and minimal data collection. Here’s what you need to know:
Personal Data Processing
I do not collect any personal data. There are:
- No cookies
- No user accounts
- No email collection
- No social media integration
- No ads
- No invasive tracking cookies
Analytics
I use Umami, a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics tool, to collect minimal usage data. All analytics requests are proxied through this domain; no data is shared with third parties.
I collect minimal, privacy-conscious analytics to understand how the blog is used:
What I Collect
- Page visits (which pages are viewed)
- Anonymized browsing patterns (session-based, not user-based)
- Technical metrics (page load times, errors)
- Aggregated referrer data (where visitors come from)
How I Protect Your Privacy
- IP addresses are hashed with daily rotation - I cannot identify you
- No permanent user tracking - sessions expire within 8 hours
- No cookies stored on your device
- Data is automatically deleted after 90 days
- All data is anonymized and cannot be linked back to you personally
While I collect some technical data, it’s designed to be privacy-preserving and cannot identify individual users.
What Happens When You Visit
Vercel, my hosting provider, may log some technical information (like your IP address and browser type) for security and operational reasons. This data is handled in compliance with data protection laws (see Vercel’s privacy policy). I do not use or analyze this data myself.
Third-Party Services
This blog does not load any third-party services, analytics tools, or external scripts.
Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Know what data is collected (which, in this case, is minimal and not personal)
- Request access to any data about you
- Request deletion of any data about you
- Object to data processing
- Data portability
Since I don’t collect or process any personal data, these rights are mostly theoretical in the context of this blog. Because I cannot identify any user, and I store no data tied to an individual, and I process no data tied to an individual, I cannot delete or expose any such data. However, if you have any questions or concerns, you can reach me at janphilip.gopfert.eu.
Changes to This Policy
If I make any changes to this privacy policy, I’ll update this page. Given the minimal nature of this blog, I don’t expect to make many changes.
